Hutchies and Statim Yaga are proud to sponsor the Meeanjin Markets as they adapt to the nuisances of COVID-19 and move to an online platform. The usual two-day market festival is held in the heart of the Brisbane CBD and is a celebration of cultural diversity, hosting various market stalls, live performances and music.
Meeanjin encountered a few hurdles filming the music performances at the first online markets in May. With a lack of equipment, each artist attempted to use Zoom calls to dial into the live stream which results in low quality videos. For the upcoming November markets Hutchies has arranged for the music performances to be filmed professionally at The Triffid, one of Brisbane's best live music venues.
The performances were filmed over two days in October and featured an impressive line-up which includes the likes of Australian Country Music Star Troy Cassar-Daley, Shellie Morris and Dj MoZZi and many more. Hutchies' Chairman, Scott Hutchinson, holds live music close to his heart and as such was more than happy to support Meeanjin as they take the markets and music into people’s living room.
Renamed ‘Meeanjin Online’, the markets will stream on the Meeanjin Facebook and Youtube channels from 9am to 9pm Friday 27 November. The day will be fun filled, showcasing our First Nations’ culture, creativity and diversity, providing audiences an opportunity to listen and learn from the oldest living culture in the world.
Be sure to tune in!
