Hutchies delivered the first stage to this major new aviation hub for the Illawarra and Wollongong communities.

The airport has seen a large spike in aircraft and passenger demand in recent years, prompting Council to look at expansion opportunities and a scheme that would serve around 130,000 passengers per year. 

Shellharbour Airport’s first stage includes a new 1,426sqm terminal building for passengers along with short and medium term carpark resurfacing and a new long term carpark area. All works were delivered by Hutchies in the live operational airside and landside environments with no impacts to core day-to-day functions of the airport.

It operates as an unscreened terminal facility, however provision for security screening and baggage handling at a later date has been incorporated into the design to futureproof it, along with retail spaces.
