The major facelift of the Currimundi Recreation Centre included the demolition of existing accommodation facilities and the construction of two new accommodation blocks, with one and two bedroom units with ensuited bathroom facilities. The redevelopment included the construction of a new transit centre and a modern alfresco dining hall, plus the refurbishment of the existing dining hall. Features included polished concrete flooring, white birch plywood joinery, exposed concrete soffits, pre-finished plywood ceiling, and honed and polished coloured block work. A pedestrian bridge was also included in the final building works to provide convenient access to the local beach.

The recreation centre remained active throughout the entirety of the project, with students occupying the adjacent existing buildings. Hutchies has strong capability in the execution of works on a live site and our established safety and security policies ensured the project was completed safely and without incident.

The project was delivered on time and within budget, and received glowing client and stakeholder feedback, especially with regards to the quality of finish.
