United Petroleum is an independent Australian owned petrol and convenience company which specialises in retail and wholesale fuel markets, convenience stores and ethanol manufacture. It is one of the fastest growing independent companies in Australia.
Hutchinson Builders has been working closely with United Petroleum through the design and construction of five service stations across South East Queensland, Tasmania and Victoria.
We've built on both brownfield and greenfield sites, which each have had differing requirements and in some cases included ground remediation works.
Above ground building works included construction of steel structures and fitting of tilt-up panels for the service station buildings, installation of structural steel for the canopy and construction of the external bin stores. Contract works also included the internal fit-outs of the stations, some with additional tenancies for future use. External works include the installation and commissioning of the fuel systems and tanks as well as the construction of large concrete pavement areas and associated signage and landscaping works.
In ground works at the Labrador fuel station on Queensland’s Gold Coast were particularly notable in terms of the challenges faced. Situated close to the seaway, the site had high groundwater levels that were impacted by tidal flows. After careful consideration, Hutchinson Builders adopted the approach of using sheet piling for shoring and also installed an on-site de-watering plant in order to excavate the existing sewer line which needed to be diverted.
