Hutchies had a great run at the 2022 Australian Institute of Building (AIB) Queensland Professional Excellence Awards, taking out 12 accolades across sectors. To start the night Daniel Harrison, a Cadet in Hutchies' Michael White Team, received the AIB Chapter Medal recognising the student who has achieved the annual highest-grade point average of the QUT course. Hutchies' own Isaac Morrison, a Foreman in John Berlese's team, presented the award to Dan as the Chair of the Young Builders Alliance (YBA).

Across the board, Hutchies' projects were recognised with five Professional Excellence Awards, five High Commendations and one Finalist Award. Team Jamie Washington received the Commercial Construction $1M - $25M Professional Excellence award for their work on N°1 Anzac Square. This complex city refurbishment created links between three different buildings, including a 6 story glass atrium. The team also won two High Commendations for redeveloping Herston Quarter Heritage Precinct, from unmaintained nurses' quarters into beautifully modern student accommodation and amenities.

The West End State School Expansion project was recognised for a Commercial Construction $25M - $60M Professional Excellence award. Constructed across two stages by Mitch Grimmer's team, the project brings nicely designed indoor and outdoor learning spaces for the students.

Greg Crittall and his team constructed Midtown Centre, an architectural first where two large office towers are amalgamated into one high quality and sustainable commercial office building. The project received a High Commendation for Commercial Construction for over $60M. Crittall's team also undertook the fit out works for anchor tenant Rio Tinto, which was awarded Commercial Construction $25M - $50M Professional Excellence.

The first five completed separable portions of Nicholas Street Precinct in Ipswich were recognised with the $60M+ Commercial Construction Professional Excellence award. Constructed by team John Berlese, the new community hub is expected to reactivate the heart of Ipswich.

Team Otis Towill were thrilled to be awarded the $60M+ Professional Excellence Award for their hard work on The Standard by Aria. The uniquely shaped residential building sits along renowned Fish Lane in South Brisbane and has redefined vertical living with its amenities.

The evening was one for the memory books, so be sure to check out our night below!
