Logos&Icons
Hutchies' logos are our most iconic symbols. Originally designed in 1987, they have become recognisable across Australia for high quality construction solutions. The colours, fonts and supporting graphics each represent elements of our brand that, when combined, make something truly 'Hutchified'.

Hutchinson Builders
Horizontal Logos
Our iconic Horizontal Logo was designed in 1987 to celebrate our 75th birthday and has grown to become one of Australia’s most recognised construction logos. The Horizontal Logo is our primary identity, which we use as a more formal visual representation of our business.

Shield Logos
The Shield Logo, or ‘badge of honour’ denotes the number of years we have been around and is updated every five years. A new milestone shield is designed to be used for a 5 year period and is rolled out two years prior to hitting the next five year milestone. For example, our 115 years shield logo takes affect from 2024 for our 115th anniversary in 2027 and will be replaced in 2029 with our 120th anniversary version.

Logo formats
All of Hutchies' branding is available in two colour formats:
- RGB which is for digital use only (ie websites / social media etc)
- CMYK which is for print use only (ie signage / brochures etc)
Typically our logo packages have the following file types included within:
SVG files are mini vectors that are supported widely online and in Microsoft Office apps like Word, Excel and PowerPoint. They support scaling with minimal quality loss, while retaining very small file sizes for fast loading. Wherever possible we prefer to use SVG versions of Hutchies' brand to maintain quality.
JPG files are suitable for on screen use and low quality printing. Do not scale.
PNG files are suitable for on screen use and low quality printing when transparency is needed (ie there is a background image / colour). Do not scale.
AI & EPS files are suitable for reproduction and scaling — mainly in professional design / print form (ie brochures, stationery, signage etc). Recommended for high resolution artwork for use by designers. Most users will be unable to open this format without the correct software.
Which logo to use
When picking a logo to brand something with Hutchies, consider how long the logo might be displayed, what the intended audience is, where it might be used and what could be around it.
Core Brand / Horizontal Logo
This logo can be used on anything — it never dates.
Core Brand / Shield Logo
This logo should only be used on temporary things like signage that is updated regularly — refer to our Brand Map to see the timeline for each 5 year shield removal and update.
Sub Brand / Casual Group Logo
Our 'HUTCHIES' logo can be used in less formal situations like in the community, on sponsorships, internal communication and where our other logos may not be appropriate (ie bigger applications or where there isn't sufficient space for a full logo). Ideally it should be used in conjunction with Hutchies' 1912 Wreath nearby to promote Hutchies' longevity (think of it like our 'Established 1912' tagline).
Icons
Our icons are perfect for small or subtle applications using Hutchies' H or 1912 Wreath graphics. They say a lot but in much less detail.
Considerations for each logo
Things to keep in mind when picking the logo:
- Hutchies' Shield Logo is updated every 5 years – try and avoid using it on things that will have a planned life extending more than 5 years – instead use our Horizontal Logo or Casual Logo
- Think about the context of the where logo will be used – for example if the space is horizontal in shape, for maximum exposure use Hutchies' Horizontal Logo, if the space available is square, use the Shield Logo
- If the opportunity allows, use our Shield Logo – ie for a sponsorship
- If it's an informal setting (ie a community event) – use our Casual Logo
Before using our logos
Use of Hutchies' brand must comply with our brand rules and correct usage outlined below.
Most importantly, you must never alter any of our branding, including removing, recreating or changing any elements.
You also must not use our name or brand if we do not work together formally (for example we have not yet executed a legally binding contract).
If you have any questions, please contact Hutchies' Comms Team.
Clear Space
Do
Keep clear white space around our logos and graphics. This ensures the logo stands out on its own and isolates it from competing graphic elements such as other logos, text or photography that may divert attention.
Removing Tagline
Don't
Do not remove the 'Established 1912' tagline from our Horizontal Logos under any circumstances.
Colours
Don't
Do not change the colour of Hutchies' logos away from what is available in the various logo packages above. Only the white logo may be colour adjusted to match other graphics, but must have approval from Hutchies' Comms Team.
Coloured Backgrounds
Don't
Do not use our colour logos on backgrounds with colours that compete or do not complement our palette. Use our all white or all black logos if using against a different coloured background.
Busy Backgrounds
Don't
Do not use our logos over complex / detailed backgrounds such as images where the logo becomes unrecognisable. Instead select a background that has clear space (ie sky in a photo) where the logo can sit neatly and is fully visible.
Poor Quality
Don't
Do not use logos that are low resolution and result in pixelation / fuzziness / blurring. Always use a high resolution version, preferably vector (ie SVG) wherever possible to retain the quality of our logos.
Rotation
Don't
Do not rotate or alter the shape of our logos under any circumstances. We may use our logos with a 90 degree rotation in some applications, however this is only to be done internally by Hutchies' Comms Team.
Stretching
Don't
Never freely resize, stretch or squash our logos. Always scale it correctly to maintain the shape of the original design.
Small Tagline
Don't
Do not use a Horizontal Logo with a small 'Established 1912' tagline. We have phased these old logos our to improve the legibility of our tagline.
Repeat Core Logos
Don't
Repeat Hutchies' core logos in a small space. Provide breathing room to allow the logos maximum visibility and impact without looking cluttered by each other. Use our other brand graphics to conservatively create balance or fill space where required.
